What is Amapiano?
Amapiano developed in South Africa, drawing on house, jazz and kwaito. Piano phrases, layered percussion and the distinctive log-drum bass sound are useful signposts, although individual producers and vocalists take the music in different directions. Its growth is also a story of DJs, dancers and communities sharing a sound.
